What Matters Most?

What matters most to me? This is a very broad question, and will be very difficult to narrow down into 4 paragraphs. However I shall try.

The first thing that ironically came into my head when I thought of this was food, which don't get me wrong, food is a necessity in my life but probably not what matters most to me in my heart.

In my life the one thing I can always count on is my family. My mom, dad, grandparents, and brother are always there when I need them most. I have seen broken families where the closeness between mom, dad, and siblings are nearly non-existent, and I cannot even fathom the thought of that. I value the time I can spend with my family and am quite lucky to have been given the abundant amount of privileges that I have received in my life. I look back now, and realize what a bratty kid I was to my parents when they would not let me spend the night with my friend on a school night, or would not let me pierce my bellybutton (thank you mom and dad for talking me out of that one!)

Now the older I get the more I realize why my parents did what they did, and wow, they did more than anyone should expect. I blame, well no I don't blame that is a bad usage of wording, I praise my parents for all their hard work and it has thus given me the opportunities in life such as going to college (with no debt!), having a nice apartment, etc.

I think just having the feeling that you know there is someone there that loves you and is rooting for you 100% of the time, really motivates someone to work hard, and want to succeed at everything. I do this just so I can make those people that care about me proud. It truly is a wonderful feeling to have such a supportive "team", and this is why my family is what matters most to me in my life.
